Biography
Mauricio Godoy Molina is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Universidad de La Frontera (Temuco, Chile). Before joining UFRO, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of Bergen (Norway), the University of Göttingen (Germany), Supélec (Université Paris-Sud, France) and École Polytechnique (France). He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Bergen, under the supervision of Irina Markina and Alexander Vasil'ev. His research focuses on differential geometry, with a particular interest in sub-Riemannian geometry and geometric control theory, areas that have frequently led him to study algebraic problems related to Lie theory.
Since 2017, he has served as Executive Editor of the scientific journal CUBO, A Mathematical Journal. Since 2022, he has been a member of the SciELO Chile Scientific Journals Advisory Board, for two consecutive terms until 2027, as an Advisor in the area of Exact and Earth Sciences. Since December 2024, he has been President of the Chilean Mathematical Society (SOMACHI).
