About the researcher

Biography

Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Universidad de La Frontera and Director of the Research Center Geometry at the Frontier. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Columbia University in 1981 and has developed an outstanding academic and scientific career in complex geometry. Her research focuses on Fuchsian groups, Riemann surfaces and abelian varieties, contributing to the development of mathematical research and to the training of new generations of researchers in Chile.

MateA — Mathematics for Female Students

Role: Founder of the program  ·  Period: 2017 – 2018
Mathematics camp aimed at female students and teachers of secondary education, created within the framework of the CONICYT Anillo Grant PIA ACT1415 Geometría en la Frontera, led by Dr. Rubí E. Rodríguez. An initiative designed to foster interest in mathematics among young women through collaborative activities. Three editions were held with national participation (2017–2018). She participated as a plenary speaker in the 2018 edition.
